the power of an electric motor with the natural power of the cyclist.This method of power integration means that the bicycle can be propelled by the cyclist's power alone, the electric motor power alone, or a combination of the two -- all operating the entire gear range of the bicycle. Why is multi-gearing so important? Other products such as hub motors operate through one gear only, such that, if the hub motor gear is optimized for the hills, then it just cannot deliver much speed in the flats; and if the hub motor gear is optimized for the flats, then it runs out of steam on most hills.
